4th of July Picnic at the Park in Benicia, California
After “recovering” from the Benicia 4th of July parade (that actually happened in the evening on July 3rd), it’s time to head to Benicia Picnic at the Park.
This great even happens at the aptly named City Park (aka Jensen Park) at the top of First Street. There is live music, concessions selling many types of food, arts and crafts booths, a rock wall, jumping houses, a train and more. It runs most of the day starting at noon and wrapping up at around 7:00.
Of course, many people bring their own grill and supplies and BBQ up their own lunch right there in the park. The location on First Street also means that many of Benicia’s restaurants and stores are nearby in case you forgot to pack anything or just want to visit and shop.
The park itself also has a huge wooden fort as a play structure for the kids and room for football, Frisbee or whatever else your group wants to play.
Like the parade the day before, this event brings out most of the people in town as well as visitors from other towns to enjoy the Benicia 4th of July Picnic at the Park.
Of course, when the picnic wraps up, it’s time to put away your BBQ supplies and walk down to the foot of First Street to watch the fireworks over the water.
